Full-Time Job. Dad. Ultra-runner.
Building the thing I needed.
Currently training for my
10th ultra-marathon in November 2026
I have a desk job, a toddler, a second kid arriving this year, and a training habit I won't negotiate away. What I don't have is a blank calendar. Most training plans — and most coaching tools — were designed as if you do.
After years of getting this wrong, I got interested in what good coaching actually provides that a static plan doesn't. The answer is a feedback loop: someone reading what really happened and adjusting accordingly, before a bad week compounds into a broken training block. LiveArdent is my attempt to build that system — on the training block I'm in right now, for a life that's not slowing down.
Training hard. Living harder.
Finding the overlap.
Essays on endurance, adaptation, and the real cost of doing hard things when life is full.
Your Plan Isn't the Problem
How uncorrected training signals become injuries, why the feedback loop matters more than the plan, and what coaches actually do that apps don't.
The Honest Supplement Audit
What the research actually says when you stop reading the labels — including the ingredient in most multivitamins that may be blunting your training adaptations.
The Training Plan Was Written for Someone Else
Most training plans assume a blank calendar. A framework for deciding what actually survives contact with a full life — and what to protect when the week compresses.
The Three Goals Are the Same Goal
Chasing a 5K PR seven months out from a 50-mile ultramarathon — and the math connecting sub-20 5K, sub-6 mile, and 3-hour marathon that changed how I think about all three goals.
